I think
that this quote means that they were fighting for peace in the war and it hurt
so much to get it back. I think that the solders wanted to change their own
live, they didn’t want to fight, they just wanted to be home with their family,
and it hurt that they knew they could never have it. I also think it means how
he can be feeling peace when there is so much death around him. This shows that
the soldier's idea of peace can be different from mine.

War Letters
Dear Mom,
How are
you? How is the whole family doing since I left? It’s been a month since I have
joined the army and to be frank with you I am a little scared. It has been a
little fun but very scary. About 2 weeks a go one of the soldiers was shot and
killed on enemy ground floor. I am really missing you and the whole family a
lot. Everyday I keep on counting the days when I can go back home. I have
received all of your mails and I am having a lot of fun and enjoying reading
them. I really miss you hope to have time to send you more mails in the near
future.
Love,
Sharan
I choose to
send the letter to my mom, because she has always been the more overprotective
between both my parents. She has always been a great mother and I know she
would be worrying how am I doing away from her. I chose to tell her this
information because incase she heard anything on the news she would no it
wasn’t me and would not get even more worried than what she already is. Yes,
some information that I think is best for her not to know I wouldn’t tell her
for her own good.
The Things They Carried
I carry many things with me wherever I go.
Two of them out of the many are my iPod and my phone. My iPod means my past. As I grew up my taste in music has changed a lot.
When I listen to music I forget my surroundings and I forget all the people
around me. When I listen to music it takes me to a whole other dimension.
Another very important thing that I carry with me wherever I go is my phone. My
phone is a way of communication, research and time. I use my phone for
everything and it lets me be in touch with my friends and family. These two
items entertains me and I take them everywhere.
The Vietnam War
When I was
first introduced to this topic and event, I knew nothing about it except the
basics. I knew the war took place in Vietnam, I knew that it was between the
United States vs. Vietnam, and I also knew that the United States quit the war.
I wanted to know who was the president during the war and why did the United
States fight in the war. After learning so much and reading about the Vietnam
War, I learned that the United fought because of communism, 58,00 Americans
died, 304,000 were wounded, and 76,000 were disabled that was why the United
States quit the war. I also learned that the United States spent 200 billion
dollars on the war and the average age of soldiers was 19 years old.
