Field Trip

20 years ago there was this amazingly beautiful lake, named Lake GuiGui in France. It was known for it beautiful crystal clear blue water, it was one of the cleanest lake in the world. It was just a tourist attraction; no one was allowed to enter the lake in order for it not to get dirty.
After 2 years passed 2 young boys decided to pass security and enter the lake. As soon as they entered the lake the mysteriously died and drowned. The police said that they were shocked with a huge electrical current and died instantly. Each day less and less people came to see the lake. After another 2 years passed the lake mysteriously dried out and was just dirt. Scientist and polices could not explain what happened and it still remains a mystery till now.

Ambush/The Man I Killed

Tim O’Brien tells the Man I Killed in a first person point of view. He knows many details as he remembers every single bit of his past history when he killed the man, still regretting it till today. He has always regretted killing that man, knowing that he should have never killed him, but his actions can never be undone.

Sweetheart of the Song Tra Bong

Mary Anne is transformed into a killer is because of the amount of time she spends in Vietnam. The wild is what made her a killer, it took out her inner cruelty. She came in like a normal woman and represented home, but the more time she spend in Vietnam during the war, the more it changed her. She became the war. No, in this situation it doesn’t matter whether it’s a male or a female, because it could happen to anyone.
I think he lets Rat Kiley to tell part of the story because he would have a different point of view, he might know the story better, and he might exaggerate the story I little bit. Yes Rat Kiley story does fit O’Brien’s criteria of a true war story.
