Mary Anne
is transformed into a killer is because of the amount of time she spends in
Vietnam. The wild is what made her a killer, it took out her inner cruelty. She
came in like a normal woman and represented home, but the more time she spend
in Vietnam during the war, the more it changed her. She became the war. No, in
this situation it doesn’t matter whether it’s a male or a female, because it
could happen to anyone.
I think he lets Rat Kiley to tell
part of the story because he would have a different point of view, he might
know the story better, and he might exaggerate the story I little bit. Yes Rat
Kiley story does fit O’Brien’s criteria of a true war story.
